The Winston-Salem Triad Chapter of the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association and the Police Benevolent Foundation are asking for financial assistance for the family of Forsyth County (NC) Deputy Kaleb Mitchell.
Deputy Mitchell was killed while on duty in a vehicle crash on March 7th around 6:00 a.m. on Highway 311 at the intersection of Grubbs Rd. A driver of another vehicle was traveling in excess of 100 mph in a 55-mph zone when he crossed the center line striking Mitchell's vehicle. Deputy Mitchell was transported to Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver has been charged with multiple offenses including 2nd degree murder.
Deputy Mitchell served with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office for about a year and a half and previously served with the King Police Department. He leaves behind a wife and 2-year-old son. His wife is five months pregnant with their daughter.
100% of the monies received by the PBF will go to the spouse as she works through this tragic time.
