The Tennessee Police Benevolent Association and the Police Benevolent Foundation are asking for financial assistance for the family of Weakley County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Deputy Derrick Bonham.

Deputy Bonham was shot and killed in the line of duty on January 30, 2026. Deputy Bonham was responding to assist Martin Police Department officers at a disturbance at the Days Inn in Martin, Tennessee for possible shots fired. Upon arrival deputies observed an occupied vehicle leaving the nearby gas station, with the driver of the vehicle firing shots at the officers, striking Deputy Bonham. Officers responded to the shooting scene and took the shooting suspect into custody, as Deputy Bonham was transported to local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Sheriff Terry McDade describes Bonham as “kind, quiet and humble”, and is asking for prayers for the family.

Deputy Bonham began working at the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office in February 2024. He is survived by his wife Nicole, and their three young children.

100% of the monies received by the PBF will go to support the family of Deputy Bonham during this difficult time.
