The Greater Southwest Chapter of the Virginia PBA and the Police Benevolent Foundation are asking for financial support for the family of Officer Jordan.

Officer Daniel “Scott” Jordan had been employed by the Southwest Virginia Community College since graduating from the Virginia Law Enforcement Academy in 1998. During his time at SWVCC, Scott was promoted to Lieutenant and served the school and community with honor. Scott also worked for the Town of Tazewell Police Department, Cedar Bluff Police Department, and the War Police Department. He was well known for his loyalty to his position and his love for everyone that he encountered. His goal was to ensure the well-being of every person around him, as well as lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Scott has always been a class-act, both in and out of uniform.

Officer Jordan grew up in Berwind, WV, just across the line from where he worked. He graduated from Big Creek High School in 1994. He went on to graduate from the Virginia Law Enforcement Academy in 1998. After working many years at SWVCC, he chose to pursue his Bachelor’s Degree from Bluefield College and received his diploma in Criminal Justice in May 2017. This was something he was very proud to accomplish, as he always wanted to be a positive role model to his children.

Anyone that knew Mr. Jordan knew that he was a people person, but his favorite people were his family. He and his wife, Michelle raised two children together, Andrew and Brooklyn Jordan. When Scott wasn’t on duty, you could find him at a band concert, the softball field, a tennis match, the volleyball court, and every event in between that pertained to his kids. He was a family man and always made sure his wife and children knew how much he loved them.

During the last year of his life, Officer Jordan fell ill with cancer. While the prognosis was positive in the beginning, this disease eventually took his life within nine short months. He gave everything to his line of work and was ready to celebrate his 25th anniversary as a Police Officer for Southwest Virginia Community College. His job was to protect and serve his community, and he did this with all of his heart until the very end.

100% of the money received by the PBF will go to help Officer Jordan's family during this difficult time.
