The Augusta’s River Region Chapter of the Police Benevolent Association of Georgia and the Police Benevolent Foundation are asking for financial support for retired Lieutenant Robert West, who worked for the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office for thirty-three years. He also served on Executive Board for the chapter for many years.

In 2011, while attempting to apprehend two suspects breaking into vehicles, Robert was intentionally run over by the suspect driving the getaway vehicle. He suffered many injuries but was able to eventually return to work.

Since that incident, Robert has faced several serious medical issues, and recently discovered that he was in need of a heart and kidney transplant. He was hospitalized late last year and put on the transplant list.

Robert had a successful heart and kidney transplant this week and is still in the hospital recovering.

100% of the money received by the PBF will go to help with Lieutenant West’s medical and family expenses.
