The Mississippi Police Benevolent Association and the Police Benevolent Foundation are asking for financial support for the families of Officer Branden Estorffe and Sergeant Steven Robin with the Bay St. Louis Police Department.

On December 14th, in the early morning hours, Estorffe and Robin responded to a local motel to conduct a welfare check of a mother and her child. The mother said she was being followed by a man in a white truck and was in fear for her life. After a thorough discussion with the woman, the decision was made by the officers to request assistance from child protective services because of concerns with the child. The woman and her child began loading their belongings into the vehicle and entered the vehicle to leave. As the mother was sitting in her vehicle, she fired a fatal round, killing Robin. Estorffe approached the vehicle and exchanged gunfire with the woman. They were both killed.

Sergeant Robin was a three-year veteran of the agency and had worked with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office previously. He leaves behind his wife, children and grandchildren.

Officer Estorffe was a two-year veteran of the agency. He leaves behind his mother, father, four sisters, brother, and grandparents. He is a second-generation law enforcement officer, following in his father’s footsteps.

100% of the money received by the PBF will go to the families of these officers.
